Parasites Yikes!!
The CDC estimates that there are thousands of parasites in the United States alone. Parasites are biochemically complex creatures. They are categorized according to function, reproductive ability and shape.
My parasite of interest is the: Dwarf Tape Worm
List of parasites: Hookworm, Giradia lamblia, pinworm, trichinella spiralis, flea, Trichuris Trichiura, Ascaris lumbriodes
Dwarf Tape Worm The dwarf worm only grows 1. 5 inches. It does not need an intermediate host just one mammal can host its entire life cycle. Draft worms have small heads with single ring hook and cup-shaped suckers.
How can the dwarf worm infect humans? The worm can infect humans when eggs are ingested from food or water that has been contaminated.
What kind of infection does a dwarf tapeworm cause? Diarrhea, itching abdominal pain, headaches and digestive complaints. If the symptom is severe then body weakness, weight loss and dizziness can occur.
